SCS works hard to provide as many professional development opportunities for teachers and leaders as possible, with a wealth of supports available in schools as well as via online and satellite resources.
A number of leadership opportunities to include the New Teacher Mentor, Instructional Literacy Coach, Instructional Math Coach, PLC Coach, and PAR Consulting Teacher are available to experienced educators who seek to foster effectiveness in our schools and facilitate professional growth among their SCS colleagues.
The New Teacher Mentor is a site-based, supplemental position that pairs the Mentor with teachers in the building who are new to the profession, to help orient them and provide supports around essential teaching skills, including classroom management, planning, communication, and resource identification. Instructional Content Coaches provide content specific coaching to support district initiatives and literacy and numeracy school goals. Peer Assistance & Review (PAR) Consulting Teachers-along with PLC Coaches provide additional consulting services to support effective instructional practices to teachers.
